More about the course

This Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Healthcare Practice is an ideal course if you are interested in the health sector and are hoping to pursue a career in a professional healthcare role.

This course will give you the clinical skills you need to become a healthcare practitioner. You will benefit from the industry experience of the qualified nurses who teach on this programme. You will focus on health promotion and learn in a simulated hospital environment.

This foundation degree has been validated by health professionals and includes guest lectures from industry professionals including NHS colleagues and Marie Curie nurses.

This degree is an approved Higher Technical Qualification quality marked by Skills England.

Entry requirements

64 UCAS points (from a related Early Years and/or Health and Social Care subject).

Once your application has been reviewed, you will be invited to attend an interview at the University Centre (details will follow via an email from our Admissions Team).

If you are a current Newcastle College student and successfully meet the published Level 3 entry criteria in an appropriate subject(s), you will be guaranteed a place on this course.

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE English and maths or the Level 2 equivalent (i.e. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

At Newcastle College University Centre, we welcome applications from students studying new T-Level qualifications.

Work Experience

This Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Healthcare Practice will help prepare you for work as you undertake live briefs from industry and benefit from guest lectures from organisations such as the NHS, Marie Curie, CQC and Parkinsons UK. You will also gain qualifications in Mental Health First Aid and First Aid in the Workplace whilst studying this course*.

You can progress from the FdSc Healthcare Practice degree onto our BSc (Hons) Public Health (Top-Up) or BA (Hons) Integrated Health, Social Care and Wellbeing (Top-Up) degree programmes.
