More about the course

If you have a passion for Fine Art, this degree will allow you to explore your interests and build the skills you need to establish a personal and professional studio practice.

You will develop skills in traditional and contemporary practices such as painting and drawing, sculpture, ceramics, site-specific working, installation and filmmaking. Alongside this you will be introduced to key historical, contextual, critical and professional perspectives to inform the development of your personal studio practice. You will also be given the opportunity to show your work in public exhibitions throughout the course to develop your professional practice and public profile as an artist.

Entry requirements

64 UCAS points (in a related Art and Design subject).

Once your application has been reviewed, you will be invited to Newcastle College University Centre to present a portfolio of your work.

If you are a current Newcastle College student and you successfully meet the published Level 3 entry criteria in an appropriate subject[s], you will be guaranteed a place on this course.

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English Language or the Level 2 equivalents (i.e. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

At Newcastle College University Centre we welcome applications from students studying new T-Level qualifications.

Work Experience

You will have the opportunity to participate in public exhibitions to showcase your work in each year of your course and benefit from regular talks and tutorial opportunities with professional artists.

Our Professional Arts Practice module in Year 2 will give you an introduction to specialist professional skills to begin your development as a professional practitioner.
