More about the course

The BEng (Hons) Electrical Electronic Engineering (Top-Up) degree will give you advanced practical experience working with specialist facilities including simulation software such as MATLAB and, as an Engineering student at Newcastle College University Centre, you will have access to a range of industry-standard equipment in practical environments.

During this practical degree you will study Programming Embedded Microcontrollers using C Language, and enhance practical and theoretical concepts of Digital Electronics and Electrical Power Systems by studying and building Digital Electronic Circuits used in industrial environments. You will also learn about HVDC, Synchronous and Asynchronous machines and Single and Three Phase Power Systems used in Electrical Power industrial applications.

This Top-Up degree will also provide you with a balance of interpersonal skills and industrial knowledge from using an industrial approach to Electrical Electronic, Control and Industrial Engineering techniques.

Entry requirements

Pass or higher in Level 5 Foundation Degree, Diploma in Higher Education or HND (related Engineering subjects).

You may also be invited to a discretionary interview.

If you are a current Newcastle College student and successfully meet the published Level 5 entry criteria in an appropriate subject[s], you will be guaranteed a place on this course.

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English or the Level 2 equivalent (i.e. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

At Newcastle College University Centre we welcome applications from students studying new T-Level qualifications.
