More about the course

A Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Psychology with Sociology will help you develop a new understanding of how humans think and why they behave as they do, individually and societally. Learn from our industry-specialist lecturers about such diverse topics as psychological and social theory and research, the impacts of crime, media and intimacy on psychology and how contemporary social issues shape childhood psychology.

Entry requirements

64 UCAS points (in a related Early Years and/or Health and Social Care subject).

You may be invited to a discretionary interview.

If you are a current Newcastle College student and successfully meet the published Level 3 entry criteria in an appropriate subject(s), you will be guaranteed a place on this course.

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE English and maths or the Level 2 equivalence (i.e. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

At Newcastle College University Centre, we welcome applications from students studying new T-Level qualifications.

You will have the opportunity to develop work related skills in our real-life simulation suite.

Where can I progress?

Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress onto our Honours Degree (BSc) in Integrated Health, Social Care and Wellbeing (Top-Up). Alternatively, you could enter the workforce as a behavioural support worker, specialist mental health worker, or undertake further studies to specialise as a clinical psychologist, assistant psychologist, counsellor or teacher.
