This Tourism and Events Management degree will help you to develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the global tourism and events industry.

You will learn about cultures, lifestyles and economies across the world and develop skills to navigate the industry within different countries.

You will gain the practical management tools you need to manage and market a range of tourism and events businesses and benefit from close working links with local industry, including Hays Business Travel, NGI, ACAS and Northumbrian Water at Kielder.

Entry requirements

64 UCAS points (from related Travel and Tourism, Business and/or Management subjects).

If you are a current Newcastle College student and successfully complete the published Level 3 entry criteria in an appropriate subject, you will be guaranteed a place on this course.

Applicants who have not progressed from a Level 3 course with Newcastle College will be interviewed for suitability.

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English Language or the Level 2 equivalent (i.e. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

Acceptance is subject to a satisfactory DBS clearance.

At Newcastle College University Centre we welcome applications from students studying new T-Level qualifications.

Work Experience

You will collaborate extensively with the local tourism and events industry thanks to the University Centre's strong links. During this degree, you may undertake up to 60 hours industry work placement over the two years. You will also benefit from guest speakers and visits to local tourist destinations and event venues.

Where can I progress?

After successfully completing the FdA Tourism and Events Management, you can progress to the BA (Hons) Tourism and Aviation Management (Top-Up) with Newcastle College University Centre.

Alternatively, you will be able to enter lower-level management roles within industry. Our alumni have secured roles with local companies including Copthorne Hotel Newcastle, Little Haven Hotel, DFDS, Hays Travel and Jet2.plc.
