More about the course

This part-time Children and Young People degree will allow you to build on the professional skills and knowledge you gained at Foundation Degree level. It is also the next step towards a PGCE qualification if you are looking to go into teaching. You will be committed, motivated, and passionate about working with children, and keen to make a positive impact on their development. You will cover topics such as safeguarding, young people in society and equality and diversity, learning from tutors who have worked in a variety of roles in nurseries, schools, and education and youth settings. You will develop enhanced research skills through completing a dissertation on an area of your choice.

Entry requirements

Pass or higher in a Level 5 Foundation Degree, Diploma in Higher Education or HND (in relevant Childcare and/or Health and Social Care subjects).

You may be invited to interview before being offered a place on this course (this interview will be requested at the discretion of the Childcare department staff).

If you are a current Newcastle College student and you successfully meet the published Level 5 entry criteria in an appropriate subject[s], you will be guaranteed a place on this course.

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English Language or the Level 2 equivalents (i.e. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).
