Are you looking for a part-time course to top up your Engineering degree? This BEng (Hons) in Electrical Electronic Engineering (Top Up) could be perfect for you.

Electronic and Electrical Engineers are innovators and problem solvers – if you have practical skills, planning, time management and the ability to work as part of a team, this could be the ideal course for you.

You will be introduced to the key principles in electrical and electronic engineering, and in your final year you'll be fully equipped to demonstrate all your knowledge and skills within your project work.

You will acquire a range of academic, employability and personal development skills through work related learning and have the opportunity to work with employers on live briefs. In addition to this, guest lectures and workshops are provided from a range of North East employers, including IHC, Renolit IMechE, Port of Blyth and Siemens.

Entry requirements

Pass or higher in Level 5 Foundation Degree, Diploma in Higher Education or HND (related Engineering subjects).

You may also be invited to a discretionary interview.

If you are a current Newcastle College student and successfully meet the published Level 5 entry criteria in an appropriate subject[s], you will be guaranteed a place on this course.

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English or the Level 2 equivalent (i.e. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

Where can I progress?

On completion of the BEng (Hons) Electrical Electronic Engineering you will be able to enter the engineering sector as a senior engineer. You will also be able to progress onto a Masters qualification within Engineering at an alternative educational establishment.
