This course will help you to develop an understanding of how humans think and why they behave as they do, both as individuals and within society. Not only will you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, but you will also develop the knowledge and skills to work effectively with a variety of individuals across a wide range of employment opportunities. This course is suitable for those wanting to pursue a career in the more traditional fields of psychological and social support, care and education, health and mental health services, public relations and service, research, digital media, marketing, charities, community work and social influencing.

Study a range of subjects to prepare you for the diversity of opportunities available, including how psychological and sociological phenomena are researched, culminating in a dissertation of your choice. You will also investigate the relationship between health, happiness and wellbeing; examine gender relations and the construction of gender and sexual difference from a globally informed perspective; and develop your leadership and management skills in preparation for future employment. You will also benefit from current industry expertise through our extensive range of guest speakers and lectures.

Entry requirements

If you are already a Newcastle College University Centre student, you can progress onto this course if you have achieved a Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Psychology with Sociology.

If you are applying from another university or higher education institution, successful candidates will need a grade 4/C or Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths.

Mature students (aged 21 or over) will be considered based on relevant industry experience.

Applicants for whom English is not their first language are expected to achieve a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or the nationally-recognised equivalent.
