Immerse yourself in the dynamic and ever-evolving world of visual storytelling with our Foundation Degree in Film, TV, and Media Production. This comprehensive degree is designed to equip aspiring filmmakers and media professionals with the skills, knowledge and creative insight needed to thrive in the rapidly changing landscape of the entertainment industry.

You will have access to leading-edge facilities including editing suites, virtual production studio, photography studio and rehearsal rooms.

By the end of this degree, you will be well-equipped to pursue careers in various roles within the film, television and media production industry, including but not limited to filmmakers, directors, producers, cinematographers, editors and content creators.

We have employer engagement with Northern Film, NEIFF and NGI, among other local and national companies.

This degree is an approved Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) quality marked by Skills England.

Entry requirements

64 UCAS points (related to Art and Design or Digital Arts subjects).

Current Newcastle College students who successfully meet the published Level 3 entry criteria are guaranteed a place on the course.

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English Language or the Level 2 equivalent (i.e. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

At Newcastle College University Centre we welcome applications from students studying new T-Level qualifications.

In the absence of relevant qualifications, suitable career experience will be considered as part of your application.

Work experience

Content is king and this degree responds to demand from business and agencies for film and media producers. As well as opportunities to work freelance, you will engage with external clients, respond to live briefs and take part in enrichment trips to regional film festivals.

English and maths

English and maths are vital in the film and media production sectors, whether you're generating shot lists and production schedules or writing scripts and creative treatments. We embed these into your course to ensure you have every opportunity to enhance your skills.

Where can I progress?

After successfully completing this degree, you can progress to the BA (Hons) Film, TV and Media Production (Top-Up) with Newcastle College University Centre. Alternatively, you will be able to enter the industry, creating content within the film, television and media production sectors.
