Higher Technical Qualifications

Our Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) have been developed with employers to ensure that our students are receiving the most relevant skills and knowledge they need to progress in their career after graduation. We offer many HTQs at the University Centre across Business, Childcare, Computing, Health and Social Care, Sport and more.

What is a HTQ?

A HTQ is a quality mark by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education and is part of their focus to ensure Level 4 and Level 5 qualifications meet the need of employers and learners.

Who are Higher Technical Qualifications for?

Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) are for any student who is ready for higher education and wants to work in those technical sectors where they can go straight from Level 5 into a technical career such as a technician or early career managers.

HTQs are an alternative to apprenticeships or degrees. They may suit you if you want a more practical, employer-led study programme.
